Big Crux side of the split 7" with Criminal Code. 200 press on Bedside Records; sold out. Recorded during the 2012 "Ponchito" LP sessions HMS, Seattle.

For Sarah KIrsch. Distressed by death of loved ones (or self), but solaced by indelible influence and champion, liberating spirit. Played out in a dream wondering if dead or alive after an injury; further dismayed when pleas to the presumed living fall on deaf or unwiiling ears. Who are the dead and who are the living? Mere mental mirages? How are stories, memories, energies kept alive? "Keep me alive, don't know if I can take it..."

Saw you in space, kid
standing there
mind synapses
quick despair
shock in the air

Crashed your head heavy
blank stare
alive or defunct now
it’s up in the air

Mind betrays body
vessels gone astray don’t worry
those alive keep history
reworkin’ workin’
Who will continue these
electric folds
concept, all theory
or a sworn atheist that dies
screams for Jesús

Vacant stare chicken
are they there?
am I alive?
plead everywhere
chicken-walk stare

Energy resides up in the air
see right through me
teeth and hair

vessels float
up, down, in, out
a white bubble in an ocean
a prisoner of time

Loaded, spacetime, vessels, with you, loaded, spacetime…

Big Crux Seattle, Washington

BIG CRUX existed 2008-2015. The band was inspired by genre-bending hardcore bands like BIG BOYS, MINUTEMEN; bouncy punk bands like PLUGZ, X, UNDERTONES; indie faves WIRE, MISSION OF BURMA; funky R&B, jazzy angles, Latin twang; and philo-sci-fi contemplations on place, space, capitalism, biculturalism, and historical trajectory; a type of hard-hard bop or vacant-stare-chicken-walk boogie was begot. ... more
